Updated to match only CAP profile

parent a211ecca
MetCoOp WG Backend has been established to design unified interfaces to each institutes’ data.
This repository defines MetCoOp CAP profile defined together by SMHI, FMI and MET Norway. This profile is made to ensure that meteorological alerts are provided in **technically** harmonised format and via similar services. The profile is fully CAP 1.2. ( compatible.
The group has two ultimate goals:
This profile aims for technical harmonisation -- content of the alerts may still differ in each countries. Several warnings may also be issued to the same area by different senders.
1. Every institute has opportunity to use each other’s data as an operational backup and as part of forecast workflow
2. Every institute’s open data is shared in unified format via unified interfaces
2. All designed interfaces should be based on some existing commonly used standard (e.g. OGC, WIS, INSPIRE, OpenWeather, etc.).
Discussion behind this profile is documented in meetings folder and in issues in this project and in [preceding project in GitHub](
Before taking a new task, group will ensure that necessary pre-requirements are fulfilled:
The profile is defined in [metcoop-cap-profile](
1. There is a identified need and use case for the service
2. Each institute have resources to implement the service
## Additional Resources
Group has identified following scope of services where standardisation would be beneficial:
_Some_ useful refenreces are listed below:
* warnings (CAP)
* Time series (observations and forecasts)
* WMS (images)
* Gridded data
So far following use cases are envisioned
* Sharing open data (warnings, time series, WMS, gridded data)
* Common archive
* Disseminating HPC data
* Forecaster workstation backends
* [CAP Standard](
* [OASIS Example Practices: CAP Feeds](
* [WMO Guidelines for Implementation of Common Alerting Protocol (CAP)-Enabled Emergency Alerting](
* [Google CAP Profile](
